The Power of Compound Midpoints

Cosmobiology, a field that studies cosmic relationships to human psychology and life events, has seen significant advancements in recent years. One of the most groundbreaking discoveries has been the concept of compound midpoints, where one midpoint aspects another. This has opened new possibilities for identifying specific psychological and behavioural patterns in natal charts, strengthening the argument that cosmic configurations can reveal deep-seated tendencies and life experiences.

The Discovery of Compound Midpoints

The significance of compound midpoints emerged by accident. The story of how that occurred can be read in this article. This sparked continuing research into the natal charts of individuals who died by suicide. A systematic analysis of 200 cases revealed a striking pattern: in every single birth-chart of individuals who had died by suicide, the midpoint Sun/Moon = Jupiter/Saturn was present. This discovery was unprecedented in its consistency, demonstrating that compound midpoints could provide predictive indicators of significant psychological states.

Traditionally, midpoint astrology, pioneered by Reinhold Ebertin, focused on single midpoint structures influencing planetary placements. However, the realisation that one midpoint could aspect another in a meaningful way has the potential to revolutionise cosmobiological analysis. The Sun/Moon midpoint represents the integration of an individual’s core identity and emotional nature, while the Jupiter/Saturn midpoint symbolises a restriction of such immense proportions that it is foreseeable that the individual may not be able to comprehend any other feeling but restriction, thus creating a sense of hopelessness. This interaction appears to create a profound tension, which, in cases of suicide, may reflect an inner struggle between optimism and despair.

If this indicator can be relied on, it is possible that it may become useful for diagnostic work to measure the risk of suicide and thus be able to save lives via earlier psychological interventions.

Expanding Research: Identifying Indicators for Psychological Traits

Following this discovery, research extended into other psychological and behavioral traits, seeking similar patterns in different groups. The findings were equally compelling.

  • Paedophilia: A specific set of compound midpoints was found to be present in the charts of convicted pedophiles, suggesting that certain planetary structures correlate with this kind of deviant sexual behaviour.
  • Gay and Lesbian Sexual Orientation: In a similar manner, research identified midpoint structures that appeared consistently in the charts of gay individuals. This aligns with long-standing debates in astrology about whether sexual orientation can be determined through planetary symbolism.
  • Pornography Industry Involvement: A separate study into the natal charts of known pornographic actors and actresses revealed recurring midpoint structures that pointed to a strong emphasis on Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune dynamics. As this is a complex structure it will be best to follow the research into this.

These findings support the idea that midpoint structures can reveal fundamental psychological dispositions. However, ethical concerns remain about the implications of categorising human behaviour astrologically. While the research does not imply causation, the statistical recurrence of these indicators suggests that astrological tools could be used to better understand human psychology.

The Importance of the 120-Degree Dial

Another recent development in cosmobiology has been the increased use of the 120-degree dial alongside the traditional 90-degree dial. Reinhold Ebertin, one of the most influential figures in cosmobiology, predominantly worked with the 90-degree dial, which simplifies planetary relationships by emphasizing square, opposition, and conjunction aspects.

However, newer research has demonstrated that the 120-degree dial, which highlights trine and sextile aspects, adds an additional dynamic in revealing significant midpoint structures that correlate to psychological states, and in fact needs to be used in tandem with the 90-degree dial. The 120-degree dial offers additional clarity by uncovering planetary relationships that may otherwise go unnoticed in traditional midpoint analysis. While Ebertin prioritised hard aspects due to their direct impact, research now shows that the interactions found in the 120-degree dial often provide additional information that may be lost if only the 90-degree dial is relied upon.

Implications for the Future of Cosmobiology

The discovery of compound midpoints and the expanded use of the 120-degree dial mark a new era in cosmobiological research. These advancements suggest that cosmobiological methods can be refined to offer even deeper psychological insights, potentially aiding in mental health assessments, criminal profiling, and personal development.

However, the ethical considerations of these findings cannot be ignored. The ability to identify specific psychological traits through cosmobiology raises concerns about privacy, determinism, and the potential misuse of such information. Cosmobiologists must approach these discoveries with caution, ensuring that their work is used responsibly and ethically.

Nonetheless, the growing body of research demonstrates that astrology—particularly through the lens of cosmobiology—is far more than mere superstition. The study of midpoints, particularly in compound formations, has proven to be a remarkably consistent tool for identifying deep psychological patterns, offering new possibilities for both astrological practice and human self-understanding.

As research continues, it is likely that even more precise indicators for various psychological and behavioural tendencies will be uncovered. The challenge now lies in refining these techniques, expanding the dataset, and applying the findings in ways that are both scientifically rigorous and ethically responsible.
