Greetings from Australia. I am Gavin Melhuish, also often known as Charles (that’s my middle name).
I started this site in early 2025, largely because I have become fed up with how so called pop astrology is being peddled to the public. Also, I know that there is a better and more reliable astrology that hardly anyone knows about. I know this because I have been practicing it for almost 40 years.
The Current Situation
Astrology in all its forms is currently a mess, and is grossly misused in my opinion. A tradition that has developed over thousands of years has now been diminished to columns in newspapers, magazines, and even on TV purporting to tell you how your coming day will be based on the zodiac sign that the sun was in when you were born.
Worse still, social media is littered with videos and posts claiming to know your personality based on which zodiac sign the sun was in at the time of your birth, and a common one now, to expect forms of communication to fail when Mercury is retrograde.
People are planning their lives around this junk, and it is sad and frustrating to see. Pop astrology is almost like a new religion.
Even so called real astrology has lagged behind where it should be. It has barely progressed in the last century despite us having massive technological advances.
There is no doubt that some great things have happened in that time however. For instance the development of Swiss Ephemeris that provides accurate calculations for astrologers and which is included in nearly every astrology program in the world today, the Astro Data Bank that collects accurate birth data for serious research, and the Rodden Rating of that data that is used to classify the accuracy of the time of birth of that data.
However, the practice of serious astrology has barely improved over that time. That’s not to say that serious work has not been done in this area. It has, it is just that it has not really been embraced by astrologers generally.
Introducing Cosmobiology
Cosmobiology is not new. It was developed in Germany in the early part of the twentieth century by a group of astrologers, many of whom were also qualified medical doctors. All of these astrologers were keen to develop a new form of astrology that was based on empirical research, because even back then they believed that astrology was being misused.
Cosmobiology evolved by using techniques from the practice of astrology that, through empirical observation, were found to be accurate and reliable, the rest was discarded. It looked nothing like the practice of astrology that it evolved from. It was slimmed down, slick, and discovered to be highly accurate and useful.
The name cosmobiology was given to this new discipline to differentiate it from the practice of astrology, and as being the serious study of correlations between the cosmos and organic life on Earth. Its focus was on predicting psychological and socialogical conditions, and turns of fate or destiny in the lives of individuals.
Reinhold Ebertin became the leader in the field, publishing a number of books that have since been translated from German into many other languages. Many of those books are still able to be purchased today.
Several other prominent cosmobiologists which include, Eleonora Kimmel, Doris Greaves, Aren Ober, and Reinhold’s son Baldur Ebertin continued to write about and promote the practice of cosmobiology until recent times. Sadly, all have now passed away.
So this leaves me as perhaps one of the last remaining cosmobiologists in the world today, with the depth of skills necessary to bring cosmobiology to a new generation. And that is the purpose of this site.
My Perspective
I believe in keeping the core foundations of cosmobiology that were established by the founders of the discipline, and not changing or adding to them unnecessarily. This is one of the problems of astrology. There are so many new techniques added that it becomes overwhelming, and almost none of them have been proven to offer any benefit.
The core techniques of cosmobiology have continued to prove themselves over a century. However, I tend to be quite ruthless from the perspective of aligning cosmobiology with science. If something shows itself to not be useful when thoroughly tested, then I will discard it from my practice. In my writing however, I will still mention that it was used by Ebertin, but that I now regard the technique as not required. There are only a few such situations.
If I add new techniques, those techniques must not deviate substantially from the original intention and core practice of cosmobiology. They will only be added after substantial testing and research, and only when they can be considered an enhancement to core techniques.
The Purpose of Cosmobiology
The main purpose is to build on the core principles and be able to use that knowledge to provide accurate and reliable guidance to clients who may need it.
Cosmobiology is not divination or fortune telling. A cosmobiologist is a scientist in the same way a psychologist is. Just as a psychologist is able to draw on their scientific knowledge to assist clients, and help them find a path through difficult times, the same is true of a cosmobiologist. In fact the two professions are not dissimilar and there is quite a big crossover, although cosmobiology tends to be able to diagnose the core issues more quickly, often within a few seconds or minutes, and be able to provide timing factors for when prevailing conditions are likely to change.
Due to its beginnings in medicine, there is a lot of literature available of a medical nature. Although medical diagnosis cannot be made, when the medical profession are having difficulty with making a diagnosis, cosmobiology can be used to assist them to narrow down a possible area for diagnosis.
Natural conception, contraception and viability of a fetus can be assisted with cosmobiology. This is an area discovered by Dr Eugen Jonas and which remains popular, but is an area in which knowledge is limited. I have books on this which are out of print and I intend to write about this as well as conduct scientific testing with willing participants at some point.
What do you Need?
I understand a lot of the information on this site is technical. That is by design. I intend to make this knowledge free and accessible to those who need it in order to grow interest in cosmobiology.
However, there are many people who are non-technical and just require assistance with their daily lives. It is you who are the ultimate beneficiaries and consumers of this knowledge. You are not forgotten. If there is anything you think cosmobiology can assist you with, contact me and let’s see how it might be able to assist you.
The Blog section of this site is aimed at you. It is less technical and aimed at real world stories and solutions with cosmobiology.
